Bill Beausoleil Permanent Scholarship Endowment

Donation protected

1) We write this as teammates and friends of Bill’s from his years at John Jay High School in Hopewell, NY.

To honor the great Bill Beasoleil, a towering figure within our community,  both physically and metaphorically, on and off the court, in and out of the classroom, who wore #25 at John Jay, and who matriculated on to become a proud Clarkson University Engineer and basketball player, we are asking all his fans, family and friends to gift $25 each to the permanent endowment establishing the Bill Beausoleil Scholarship Fund.

We want a real grass roots effort; instead of asking the usual “a lot of dollars from a few” we will ask
“a few from a lot”.

2) Our goal is to raise $25,000 and let that corpus continue to grow “ad infinitum” in a blue chip stock portfolio managed by Clarkson University.

3) Each Autumn, at the start of every school year, an amount of $1,000 will be awarded to a student/athlete basketball player, majoring in Engineering, of any gender, race, creed or color, who embodies and best represents what our friend “Beau” represented in his life.
As the corpus grows, thus will the annual award.

4) The winner of the Beasoleil scholarship award can use it for their education at Clarkson or in whatever way they wish.
We all agree an extra $1,000 spending money can always be a friend to a freshman beginning their college career.

5) We will all gather via Zoom, each September, and meet our Bill Beausoleil prototype. It will be fun and a nice way to keep his great spirit alive. As a short footnote, for the past 3 decades, a year did not go by, without Beau making a donation to a non profit arts & basketball camp we hold in a low income neighborhood here on the USA/Mexico border. Bill was as giving a philanthropist, as he was a teammate, always quietly behind the scenes, helping someone with something!
He was, is and will always be one of the great ones.  They should name a band after him. Actually, I think they did, Beausoleil, check them out.

We realize many of our friends are asking for philanthropic gifts right now, as they are involved with deserving non profit organizations raising capital, especially since the pandemic began, so no worries if you can not do this.

But if the spirit moves you, thank you for your help and let me know if you can be one of our $25 donors and maybe even pass the Beausoleil Scholarship “GoFundMe” link to 1 or 2 friends who might be honored to help build Beau’s Permanent Endowment Memorial Scholarship Fund.

With greatest respect,

PS
The incomparable William “Bill” Beausoleil, Jr. earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University in 1981. Bill or “Beau,” as he was affectionately known by his friends, passed away unexpectedly in August 2020. A greater teammate, friend and father, you could not find.

Bill always spoke highly of and was quite proud of the education he received at Clarkson, which led him to a successful career in the construction industry. Considered an industry sage and trusted advisor to his colleagues, Bill worked his way from superintendent to general foreman, focusing on large, complex commercial buildings in the Northeast and Georgia, including hospital, office, and hotel structures. Bill’s industry knowledge and experience were second to none.

The William Beausoleil, Jr. ’81 Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Bill’s energy, drive and commitment to excellence. The funds raised will be awarded to an incoming freshman in the Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering who is also a member of the basketball team, two things Bill was very passionate about.

We will keep you posted on our path to $25,000 for Beau.
