Dear family and friends,
Happy Holidays!
This is a very exciting year for me with so many things unfolding, and I’d like to share them all with you.
First of all, the big 40.
Looking back at the few pictures salvaged from the war, that little Jaycee is, by grace- Amazing Grace, turning 40 on Christmas Day this year! It may be another age to some, but this marks some changes I’ve already begun to observe in my life.
I wish my parents, and other beloved relatives and friends who have gone beyond, were physically present to see this. But I feel their spirit, and I am forever thankful for what they instilled in me, and how they encouraged me to keep moving forward.
Next, after trying life in so many avenues, and trying so many career options, one close to my heart is sticking; my cooking. I live in a small town where people are eager to know what the rest of the world is like, yet afraid— by some narrative written in their subconscious— to venture into the world. So, my pop up dinners and cooking classes have been received quite beautifully. I only see expansion from here forward.
And where you come in:
In order to start my 40th birthday right, I decided to take a trip to a few places on my bucket list that are close in proximity. I will be leaving for Iceland — gifted to me by a good friend for my 40th—on December 22nd, and back on January 12th. During that time, I’ve been fortunate to secure two dinners in London that will be set up by a good friend who lives there with her family.
My plan is to make the best of my trip by learning the cuisine of the places I’ll be, and then coming back here to Cape Girardeau and doing dinner presentations. On December 27th I wish to attend a vegetarian cooking class in Lisbon Portugal for three days, and then a two day intensive German pastry and bread making course near Berlin with my friend Linda , who used to live here in Cape, but moved back for work. Linda had a baking operation here since Cape Girardeau has a German history, but then it stopped and she went back. My wish is to revive and keep the interest she started, going.
The trip itself is already booked. If you’re so inclined to help make the cooking courses and some staying arrangements on this trip a reality, scroll below and contribute.
As my act of gratitude to your support of this trip and dinner project, I’ll send you some very personalized gifts (breads, personal phone calls, post cards or trinkets from these places.
The goal of 2000 is easily reachable if many give a little. Also, if you’d like to share this gofundme page to increase donor chances, please share via Facebook messenger or personal emails of people you know.
In advance, I thank you for helping me make this merger of dream and work a possibility; and, of course, you’ll all be the recipients of amazing cultural experiences when I return.
Sincerely,
Jaycee, The Pop-Up Dinner Chef.
