Almost 5 years ago, a patient of mine was on the transplant waitlist. Great news: she got an offer and was transplanted. Unfortunately, she ended up missing the Taylor Swift concert for which she had tickets. I think we all understand how unfortunate that was for her.

I tried everything I could do to come up with a Plan B: to get Taylor to come to the hospital. (Not as crazy as you’d think). I had the pediatric residents serenade her with mock-TS songs (see attached) and the story went viral, from Baltimore to NY to LA to Hong Kong. The Hopkins marketing firm is part of the same conglomerate as the TS marketing firm, really thought it was going to happen. Then, when Plan B fell through, we went to Plan C: backstage (or any) passes to a show later in the tour. Unfortunately, my patient wasn’t well enough to attend a concert throughout the 2018 tour season and never got to see her.

Now, 5 years later I am trying one more time to at least get her tickets for Eras. One way or another, I’ll make sure it happens. (I have a few tricks up my sleeve). But first, I am asking friends to pitch in to a GoFundMe campaign. I am hoping to raise at least $1500 and that should get her two tickets to the Philadelphia show. Anything extra would go for travel costs since she lives closer to Baltimore and I know that transportation can be a challenge.

Please consider anything you can give. She’s a great kid who has had a tough journey.
