On November 22, 2018 – Thanksgiving Day – Baby Evelien Sophia Joy Berry was born full-term to loving parents Renske and Tim. Despite a healthy pregnancy and no signs of distress, Evelien was born with hydrocephalus – excess fluid within the brain.
Evelien was rushed to the NICU immediately after birth, and had a shunt placed in her head on Saturday to drain the fluid in the hopes of alleviating pressure. Sadly, she was unable to pull through and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday night.
The heartbreak for Tim, Renske, and Evelien’s two older siblings is immeasurable. The family has been steadfast in their faith, knowing that the Lord’s will, while sometimes not easy to understand, is the ultimate plan for His children here on earth.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble,”
2 Corinthians 1:3, 4
Tim is a full-time staff member at Mendham Hills Community Church, serving as the Worship Leader and Creative Director. Renske is a stay-at-home mother of a son and daughter, both of pre-school age, and is native to South Holland, where her parents and extended family currently live. Tim’s family resides in England, where they’ve spent many years serving as missionaries spreading the Gospel.
It’s been a traumatic time for the entire family, and now the planning of a funeral is under way. With your help, the Berry family will be able to reunite with loved ones overseas, combat doctor's bills that will begin to mount, and cover the costs of any funeral expenses.
This fundraiser has been started to help an incredible family experiencing a heartbreaking, life-changing event that no parent envies. Help us help the Berry family offset the unexpected costs they’re dealing with so they can may mourn and grieve without interruption.
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
