Bellbird Spellathon

On Friday 23rd January, the children will be bringing home lists of words to learn to spell for our exciting spring term Spellathon.

The aim of the Spellathon is for the children to set themselves a challenge while at the same time raising money for school resources. The words in the lists have been divided into three different groups, ‘be the best’, ‘be better’ and ‘be brilliant’. The Children decide which group of words to learn and they circle their chosen group. The words in the ‘be better’ column are words which the children are expected to be able to spell by the end of the academic year for their year group.

The children collect sponsors from family and friends and then they are tested in school on the words on Friday the 13th March.

Some of the money raised will be spent on new reading books and the school council will be asked to discuss with the children how the rest of the money is spent in school.

We are hoping to raise a grand total of £2500.

Please could all sponsor money be paid in by Friday 24th April, 2026
