Hello Friends!
I wanted to share some amazing news with you about my health. Since my journey started almost 2 years ago I have had such positive results in kicking pancreatic cancer! My chemo treatments and radiation shrunk the tumor remarkably well! The Whipple surgery that occurred in the summer of 2018 also went very well! We celebrated the year anniversary on top of a mountain in Switzerland this past summer. We also spent time in Estonia! Since then I’ve been back to Boston to check in with my surgeon and he had all positive and hopeful things to share.
I am cancer free, my health is solid and things have ’gone back to normal’. Of course you never know so I plan to continue living life with a positive attitude and to the fullest filled with nature, travel, friends and family. Aili and her family are on a journey of courage, hope, and strength after a pancreatic cancer diagnosis in early December. She immediately began treament at UVM Medical Center in Vermont and it is going well. The road ahead is still long. On the horizon are multiple trips back and forth to Mass General in Boston for Aili and her husband, Beda. This summer, Aili's daughters, Lumia and Kaja, will be attending multiple camps as Aili rests and recovers. All of this comes at a time when they are facing reduced salaries and overwhelming medical expenses. Any donations that exceed the needs of the family will be donated towards pancreatic research.
Aili is currently on medical leave from her position as School Counselor at Orchard Elementary School in South Burlington, VT.
