I’m Carmen Serano-Gingles, an actor, trauma-informed life coach, and storyteller. Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside many individuals on their healing journeys, while navigating my own path of transformation. Now, I’m pouring that lived experience into my debut memoir, The Beauty Between the Breaks, a book that weaves together raw storytelling, sacred healing practices, and collaborative art to offer something both intimate and expansive.

This memoir is more than a book. It is a movement.

The Beauty Between the Breaks holds space for the parts of ourselves that we’re often taught to hide: the grief, the rage, the ache, and the quiet beauty that can emerge from them. Inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken pottery is mended with gold, this project invites us to see our wounds not as shameful, but as places where our strength and beauty shine through. It is being created as a companion for anyone who has ever felt broken and longed for a way back home to themselves.

At its core, this is a project devoted to alchemizing pain into beauty and transcending it into wisdom.

The Beauty Between the Breaks is a sacred offering of narrative, art, and healing, born through collaboration with artists and healers of color- representing diasporic communities whose wisdom and creativity rise from lived experience. These include visual art, poetry, song lyrics, guided practices, and soulful reflections that deepen and expand the emotional landscape of the story. It is the heartbeat of a larger movement that invites us to reclaim our truth, honor the places we have been broken, and remember our inherent worth.

More than a memoir, it is an immersive offering that brings meaning, creative expression, and emotional healing into community, especially to those who have long been underserved or unseen.

This vision includes:

• Live gatherings and immersive book events that bring these stories to life
