My name is Mark Holmes.

After working with children over the years, I realized that many children grow up with a poor self-image. A poor self-image is caused by unsupportive or absent parents, bullying, verbal & physical abuse and the explosion of social media platforms that prove to be doing more harm than good. However, research has shown that self-esteem issues in all people can be corrected or mitigated by a constant, consistent, and positive message.

Therefore, I have created a patent-pending product designed for the specific purpose of improving the self-esteem of children. I am very passionate about this multi-purpose product because it allows me to help millions of children develop a strong and positive character very early in life. In addition, the product can help children combat negativity and create better mental and emotional health and well-being that will carry them through their teenage years and adulthood. By backing this project, you, too, will be helping millions of children develop and maintain positive self-esteem and outlook on life.

Introducing THE BEAUTIFUL MIRROR™ (TBM) - an illuminating, talking mirror that includes a series of fun-filled audio programs to help make a child smile. I am requesting $12,500.00 in crowdfunding to commission a 20” proof-of-manufacturing prototype of TBM. I am working with a patent attorney who has filed a provisional patent application and provides me with ongoing free/no-contingency fee services. In addition, I have several prototype companies ready to begin working on a working prototype. Together, you, me and TBM can help make life a little more enjoyable for children.

The Product: THE BEAUTIFUL MIRROR has patent-pending features that expand on the “basic mirror technique.” As an overview, TBM is programmed to greet a child initially. Once the mirror is activated, an audio message welcomes the child, asking how the child feels. Based on the answer, TBM automatically adjusts the audio content available to the child. For example, audio content can be regulated according to IF-THEN logic. For example, the TBM can ask a child if the child is happy or sad. If the child selects “happy,” then the first set of audio content (and optional video content as the child ages) can be presented to the child. Conversely, if the child selects “sad,” the second set of audio content can be given to help the child from sad to happy.

TBM offers fully interactive audio programs that a child can easily activate. The first audio program, "Repeat After Me/Affirmations That Rhyme,” is a series of easy-to-follow, easy-to-remember affirmations that helps children counter negativity in the world around them. A second audio program, “Songs and Fairy Tales,” gives a child the choice of listening to inspiring songs or fairy tales.

“Laugh Out Loud Humor” – the third of the audio programs - brings to light the old saying, “laughter is the best medicine.” This third audio program uses knock-knock jokes and humorous phrases.

“Calming Bedtimes and Lullabies,” the fourth and final audio program, provides listening selections that can prepare children for sleep.

TBM can be easily programmed so that the audio programs can contain the voices of radio personalities, celebrities, influential people, or fictional characters that are familiar to a child in a particular age group.
