The Battle of our Veteran against Cancer

On August 31, 2023, Our hearts shattered when we heard about our beloved dad’s diagnosis- aggressive, stage IV lung cancer.
It took a lot of courage to post this, as asking for help was never an easy thing to do. But our family is humbly asking for help, and humbly asking for monetary gifts of any amount to help with our dad’s medical expenses. If you are unable, that is ok. Our family would greatly appreciate all other ways of support, wether it be emotionally, sharing dad’s story, or just keeping him and our family in your thoughts and prayers while we fight this battle.

***Jimmy’s story***
Our dad, Jimmy, is the youngest of four. He was born and raised in the Philippines and joined the U.S. Navy as a ship machinist. He battled through wars such as the Persian Gulf War, and after an honorable 20 years in the Navy he retired and continued to work as a mechanic at the Pearl Harbor naval base. He has 3 children with his loving wife of 40 years and 2 mischievous grandchildren. Dad was diagnosed with emphysema earlier this year, after a bad case of pneumonia. Fast forward to August, his breathing rapidly declined, leading him to the ER. After numerous tests, xrays, doctors, and procedures, a diagnosis was finally made and chemo began immediately after. With the sudden decline of medical events, our dad’s hospitalization had him unable to attend his daughter’s big wedding celebration. But, with the love and support from family, the oncology team, and wedding vendors, dad was able to witness a surprise, last minute, wedding ceremony at the hospital with immediate family surrounding him. After fighting battles in the U.S. Navy decades ago, dad is now fighting a new battle. Please help our dad win this fight. He wishes to soon gain the strength to go back home with his family and eat steak and poke, play video games with his grandchildren, and especially attend his son’s wedding in March 2024.
