The Barry Family Endowment at FCM

Sean, Riana, Shiway, and Sadie Barry were longtime Fairbanks residents and passionate members of the community. This amazing family’s future was tragically cut short on April 20, 2022.  

 

Though the family moved their primary residence to Duluth, MN a few years ago, they remained Alaskans at heart. Local friends and family are seeking to memorialize the Barrys by creating an endowment at a local institution beloved by the Barrys, the Fairbanks Children's Museum. The endowment will indefinitely fund the Shiway and Sadie Scholarship. This scholarship program will invite the interior Alaskan community to apply or be nominated for FCM memberships, summer camps, and homeschool support curriculum free of charge.  Per the terms of the Alaska Community Foundation (the fiscal manager the endowment), our funding goal of $25k will guarantee a dividend which would fund a minimum of ten scholarships in the first year alone.

 

This endowment honors the Barrys' love of learning, exploration, and the joyfulness of childhood they cherished. Please help us make this dream a reality by making a donation.

 

To those local to Fairbanks:

Fairbanks was chosen as the final resting place of the Barrys' ashes. A memorial service will be held on June 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the pavilion at the Georgeson Botanical Garden on the UAF campus. All are invited to attend.
