My friend Brit needs some help. This is her story, in her words, of what is happening in her family.
This is Isaiah, he is 13. He has experienced something that no child should; a popular snack has caused him serious injuries. This was all started by eating Takis Potato Chips. IF YOU OR ANYONE YOU KNOW EATS THEM, please stop!!!!
The chips caused third-degree chemical burns across his lips and all over his mouth with severe ulcers covering the inside of his mouth, down the back of his throat, and tongue. It has been extremely painful just to swallow, and he has had to be fed with a syringe and tube. The skin on his lips is falling off as soon as new skin grows back from the burns. By the Grace of God, Isaiah has been able to push through and swallow now, a little at a time.
He has been fighting this battle for over three weeks with numerous emergency room and doctor’s office visits, now leading to a lengthy hospital stay. He has been at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital for close to a week, and we are still waiting on answers.
Once Isaiah is discharged, we have been given a list of doctors that we still have to consult to determine next steps for his recovery. Our health insurance has been canceled, so I will have to pay for these visits out of my pocket. As a single mother, I still have a house and bills to pay, and life is still waiting for us when we leave this hospital room. With school starting soon and mortgage payments due, the timing of this has caused a dramatic hit to our finances.
I can only ask that you seek your heart, consult with God, and whatever is laid upon your heart to help make things just a little less stressful so I can properly help my son heal and still maintain security for my family! Anything helps. If you can’t give, please send a share and a prayer. They mean so much more than you know!
Isaiah is not the first person injured by this product. We hope to spread awareness and that maybe just one person is saved from a similar experience. We will share this walk with our Faith and Trust in God through the whole journey. At the end of the day, He has the final say!
