With your generosity last year, we exceeded our goal again; we pushed past the targeted $3,000 to $3,720 – and after deductions from GoFundMe, netting out at $3604.93

After donations to the Nabby Baffour-Awuah Memorial Endowment at Luther College and the Dr. George Baffour-Awuah Memorial Gift at UGMS (read more below), our funds currently stand at: $4864.33

This year we're again targeting $3000 to fulfill our commitments - all remaining monies will roll over to next year (and eventually, toward developing the self-sustaining Endowment Fund per our long-term goals.)

We are also happy to share 3 key updates since last year's fundraising:

1. Establishment of Dr. George Baffour-Awuah Memorial Gift at UGMS

After several starts and stalls, we are thrilled to share that we have successfully established the Dr. George Baffour-Awuah Memorial Gift at the University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS). Thanks to the responsiveness, partnership and commitment of Prof. Yawson and his team of stakeholders at UGMS, the fund was finally instituted in December 2022. As initially outlined, the Dr. George Baffour-Awuah Memorial Gift entails an annual donation of $1500 to UGMs, where it will serve as a scholarship fund to sponsor gifted but needy students. We look forward to sharing updates on this initiative.

2. Nabby Baffour-Awuah Memorial Endowment Helps Sponsor Student

In June 2022, the Nabby Baffour-Awuah Memorial Endowment at Luther College helped sponsor a student on a humanitarian project. Junita Wangare ’25 traveled back to her home country of Liberia, to complete a Davis Projects for Peace (on empowering young women through sexual reproductive health education). It was an honor to not only help this passionate student travel back home, but also support sparking some good in the world.

3. The Baffour-Awuah Memorial Fund Site

We are happy to share that The Baffour-Awuah Memorial Fund has launched an official website: www.the-bamf.org . Here, you can get direct updates on developments and milestones as the unfold, as well as donate whenever you can. We will still continue with annual fundraising, but now, you can support us whenever and in whichever way works best for you.
