On June 24th, Debbie, a Registered Manager at Avocet Trust with over 30 years of dedicated service, is taking on a huge personal challenge — walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks in one day. That’s 24 miles, over 5,000 feet of climbing, and three iconic summits: Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough.

Debbie isn’t new to hillwalking — she’s previously climbed both Catbells and the Old Man of Coniston, and now she’s stepping up to one of the UK’s most demanding walking routes. But this time, she’s doing it with a powerful purpose.

She’s walking for Avocet Trust, the charity she’s called home for over three decades — a place where vulnerable and disabled adults are supported to live with dignity, purpose, and safety. Debbie has seen firsthand the life-changing impact that compassionate, person-centered care can have. From helping individuals gain confidence and independence, to creating homes where people feel truly safe and valued, Avocet Trust’s work goes far beyond basic support.

The challenge may be tough — there will be steep climbs, sore feet, and long hours — but for Debbie, it’s nothing compared to the daily struggles faced by many of the people Avocet supports. Every mile walked, every peak conquered, is a tribute to the strength and resilience of those she cares for.

By taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks, Debbie hopes to raise vital funds that will go directly towards enhancing the lives of the adults supported by Avocet — providing activities, resources, and extra touches that make a house a home.
