The Atwood's IVF Fund

Hi Everyone, Erika here...I'm creating this fundraiser for my dear friends Nathy and Greg. They've had a really rough year trying to start a family. In January of 2018 Nathy was diagnosed with Endometriosis & Anedomyosis. She had a consultation with an IVF clinic to discuss a plan to do IVF for the first time and after an ultrasound, the doctor found multiple polyps in her uterus which she had to have surgically removed (Hysteroscopy). Once  she had healed from the surgery she began medication to create follicles (eggs) by injecting 4 shots into her stomach daily for 16 days.  She then had a second surgery to remove all her eggs she had created from the shots. They had a total of 30 eggs. Out of those 30 only 10 were considered “viable”. The 10 were then cryogenically frozen.  She then began taking shots in her back for 30 days called PIO which is progesterone in oil shots, to prepare her body for the transfer. The transfer is when they put the embryo back into your uterus. Once her levels were where they needed to be, they did the transfer on January 6, 2020.  She had to go in for routine bloodwork 9 days later to confirm the transfer had worked and it had! They were pregnant. They went in for her 6 week checkup and they couldn't find the baby's heartbeat so they went back the 7th week in case it was too early. Thats when they were told that the baby had no heartbeat and had not made it. She unfortunately had to schedule a D&C two days later since her cervix doesn't naturally dilate to miscarry naturally.

While I'm sure they will never fully heal from the pain of losing their baby that they worked so hard for, they are ready to try for a second time. As most know, IVF is extremely expensive and not covered by insurance. I'm asking all of Nathy and Greg's friends and family to donate to, or share this story so we can try and raise enough or at least a nice chunk that would help them try a second time to grow their family which they have desperately wanted for so long.

**The actual transfer is $4,335.
But the meds to prepare her for this are between $600-$2,000. It depends on how much medication is needed**

They are hoping to have the funds by the start of the new year!

I know times are tough right now for everyone, so we understand if it's only a dollar or just a share. Thank you for taking the time to read their story.
