If you knew Arturo, you knew his heart. He was an incredible son, the kind of brother you could always lean on, an amazing boyfriend, a loyal friend, your Salsero Realtor, dance instructor, and DJ who brought joy, energy, and light to everyone around him. More than anything, Arturo was the kind of person who always showed up for others.
For the past year, Arturo had been bravely fighting Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer, for the third time. Even through treatments, hospital visits, and unimaginable physical pain, he continued working, teaching, dancing, and pouring love into the community that meant so much to him.
Recently, what we believed would be a simple in-and-out ER visit turned into devastating news as doctors discovered the cancer had spread to his head and other areas of his body. Within just two days, Arturo underwent emergency surgery to remove a tumor from his head.
One of Arturo’s favorite quotes from Kobe Bryant says it best:
“We do not quit. We do not cower. We do not run. We endure and we conquer.”
That wasn’t just a quote he admired — it was the way he lived his life every single day.
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved brother and son, Arturo Elihu Garcia, who passed away on 4/30/26 at the age of 27 after a courageous battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma.
In his final months, Arturo faced unimaginable challenges as the cancer aggressively spread and caused severe fluid buildup in his lungs. After countless hospital and ER visits, he underwent a procedure to place a permanent catheter in his lungs so fluid could be drained regularly to help him breathe comfortably. Despite every effort made by his medical team and specialists at MD Anderson, the cancer progressed rapidly and eventually reached a point where treatment options were no longer possible.
Through it all, Arturo continued to fight with incredible strength, courage, and heart. He inspired so many people with his resilience, positivity, and determination to keep going even during the hardest moments. He touched the lives of countless family members, friends, clients, students, and supporters, and his memory will continue to live on through everyone who knew and loved him.
Our family is deeply grateful for all of the love, prayers, donations, and support shown throughout Arturo’s journey. Your kindness brought comfort, strength, and hope during some of the most difficult moments our family has ever faced.
As we navigate this unimaginable loss, we are asking for continued support to help cover funeral and memorial expenses. Any donation, share, or prayer is sincerely appreciated and will help our family honor Arturo’s life and give him the beautiful farewell he deserves.
If you feel led to help through prayer, sharing this page, donating here, or through Zelle/Venmo, our family is deeply grateful.
Thank you for standing with Arturo and with us throughout this fight.
