THE ART OF RESISTANCE
An invitational exposition of art, music and poetry
The month of October, 2018
The 621 Gallery Annex
Our nation’s socio-political discourse is blazing with toxic disputations over facts, figures and fakeries. The purpose of this show is offer an artistic alternative to this dark argumentative quagmire, and allow, rather, the transcendent powers of imagery, symbolism and metaphor to speak to the hearts of the citizenry and its culture.
The show will run for the month of October, at Tallahassee's 621 Gallery.
While the visual art will be the focus of this show, with over 30 different artists hanging or installing their work, there will also be music, poetry and a theatrical production. Florida writer Diane Roberts will be the keynote speaker on October 11.
We are raising money here to pay for the cost of the gallery rental, to give assistance to the artists who need it for materials, to pay for promotional services and materials, to give musical performers honorariums, and to hopefully have enough left over to give the producer of the show, Grant Peeples, a small fee for his time and effort.
THERE WILL BE A SPECIAL PIECE HANGING IN THE SHOW THAT IS A FRAMED CANVAS THAT HAS THE NAME OF EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED TO THIS PROJECT.
Here is the list of artists whose work will be displayed: Alexa Kleinbard, Ron Yrebedera, Jim Roche, Brittany Watkins, Dean Gioia, Joan Matey, Stuart Riordan, Bucky McMahon, Annabelle Goddard, Linda Hall, Matthew McCarron, Joe Hutto, James Floyd, Sarah Coakley, Cynthia Hollis, Su Ecenia, Rob Nixon, Grant Peeples, Ruth Nickens, Mika Fowler, Sara McMillan, Abe Partridge, Stephanie McMillan
