The Art of Healing

In a society where teachers are paid less than correctional officers we need healing more than ever.

In a society where we spend on average $200,000 to incarcerate youth compared to the $16,000 to educate youth, we need healing now more than ever.

In a society that prioritizes policing over parenting, we need healing more than ever.

The Art of Healing is a collaboration between poet, painter, performer, InciteThe MindfulRapper & the Ascension music program. Sponsored by the Youth Art & Self Empowerment Project.

We are bringing the community together to collectively heal through creative expression. Each artists featured in this exhibition has used their craft to overcome adversity and cope with trauma and now we are giving a platform to those power leaders to empower other young people. We always hear the cliche, hurt people hurt people. However the opposite is more true, healed people heal people.

The Art of Healing aims to create a safe space for the Philadelphia community to grow in harmony.

This event also features performances from participants of YASPs ascension program which is a program that pays local artists to create socially responsible music designed to inspire and empower the people. We ask that you help us help. We can no longer wait to be saved. We must come together as a community and save ourselves from the weight of generational trauma, systemic inequality, and miseducation.
