Hi, my name is Sophia, and I have recently joined Aquinas in the lower six and currently studying Theology, Psychology and Health and Social Care. As part of joining the college I was made aware of a trip to Mumbai, India with a charity called Prem Dan which is a charity who support underprivileged children living in the slums of Mumbai. When we arrive in Mumbai me and the other students, who are attending the trip, will provide workshops for the children, including arts and crafts and sport activities at the school which Prem Dan have set up for the children. I'm really passionate in supporting underprivileged children living in third world countries. From a young age I have loved being around younger children, helping them to be confident in who they are and being a friendly face to them. When I leave college, I would love to do a gap year supporting other charities around the world that specialise in helping children who live in poverty, whether that be in schools or in hospitals. When I’m older, I am considering becoming a teacher as I would like to make a difference in the world by providing students with support during school. This trip will be a great experience for me as I will learn lots of vital skills that are required to become a teacher. Such as, communicating with younger children and coming up with creative ways to engage with the children. The money raised will go towards me being able to attend the trip. Any amount you are willing to contribute is much appreciated, and if you are not able to contribute money at this time, please can you share this link with your friends and family, it would mean the world thank you.
