The Andrew Serano "Human Fund"
Donation protected
Thank you for your contribution to the Andrew Serano Human Fund. We hope that this "Human Fund" gives many of you a little chuckle and we know Andrew is smiling right now. Rest assured that all funds collected will go to an actual charitable cause selected by Andrew’s family and friends at a later date, but this seemed fitting for the time being until a selection can be made. Please click "read more" for additional info regarding memorial service and obituary.

Obituary
Andrew Serano, 49, passed away on August 9, 2020. A vivacious personality with a big smile and a bigger heart, Andrew was taken far, far too soon from his family and friends due to COVID-related complications. Andrew was known for being an excellent lawyer and for being an even better friend to everyone who knew him. Born May 20, 1971, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Andrew never lost his love of the Philadelphia Eagles while growing up in Coral Springs, Florida. Even with his Philly roots, he was a staunch Gator fan, developed while earning both his Bachelor of Arts at UF in 1993, and his UF Law Degree in 1997. Andrew quickly rose up the ranks as a young lawyer, becoming a partner at the law firm of McDonough, Wieland, Shannin, and Gumula in Orlando, Florida. Andrew was then hired by John Morgan to join the law firm of Morgan & Morgan, where he represented people in need of great Worker’s Compensation representation for the rest of his career. He was well-respected by his peers, becoming AV-rated by Martindale-Hubble, the highest rating in legal ability and ethics given to attorneys. He was also recognized by the Florida Bar as an expert in his field, becoming one of only 200 lawyers in Florida Board Certified in Worker’s Compensation.
If the law was one of Andrew’s loves, his friends were absolutely a greater love still. He became fast friends with anyone he met, and his outgoing personality would win the room as readily as it would his court cases. He enjoyed his camaraderie with his attorney friends, his Chi Phi fraternity friends, his law school friends, his fantasy football friends (where he was known as “The Commish”), his gym friends, his neighborhood friends, and truly many, many more. Andrew was a galvanizing force in so many peoples lives who brought us together in friendships that will serve as his legacy.
He is survived by his mother, Cindy Serano, his extended family of cousins, aunts & uncles, his girlfriend, Rebekah, and his large and loyal cadre of friends who each wish they had more time to spend with “Big A.”
Service Details:
A service to honor and remember the life of Andrew will be held Saturday August 29th at 6:30pm. There will be two ways to attend the service. The first way is to attend virtually. We request that friends and family organize smaller gatherings in different locations of your choosing. The plan is to offer a zoom link so each group can participate in remembering Andrew virtually but together. We encourage everyone to enjoy the company of each other in these smaller groups and have a drink in honor of "Big A". If you are willing to host or organize one of the smaller virtual gatherings, or if you think you would like to share a story about Andrew, please email Kira Woods ([email redacted]).
If you would like to attend the service in person rather than joining an off site group or individual access to zoom call, please email Kira Woods with your information so we can determine a head count in advance. We would like to keep everyone safe so we will be limiting the number of people who attend the service in person based on CDC guidelines as of 8/29. The location of the service will be in Orlando (most likely outside in Kira's backyard or a nearby outdoor location that allows for social distancing). Exact location TBD once we can determine a plan to safely accommodate everyone.
Please use this link to register either a group or individual who will attend the service virtually. We encourage small groups join and participate on a single device to avoid streaming/bandwidth issues as a result of too many participants on the call. More logistics and info found on the Zoom registration page. You must register through this link to get the passcode allowing access the day of the event.

DISCLAIMER: I (Kira) tried to set this page up via Go-Fund-Me Charitable division but found out after initial launch that no donations could be collected prior to selecting a Go-Fund-Me approved charity. So, I had to switch to a traditional page. Again, I cannot stress enough, that under no circumstances will any donations be personally withdrawn or used until an appropriate scholarship or charity can be properly set up in Andrews honor.
