American Heritage Repository (AHR) (To Be Established only with your help!)

The Peoples’ Archive of the citizens of USA

Mission and Motto:

“Preserving America’s Heritage One Family at a Time”

Scope/Reach: For ALL citizens of the United States of America

Vision: Potentially each citizen in their lifetime can produce one or more records deemed as being worthy of enduring value and a contribution to American heritage and thus should be preserved in perpetuity

Purposes: Its primary Purpose is to PRESERVE in perpetuity all records and artifacts in its care and possession. Its secondary purpose is accessibility to researchers upon request. The AHR is to be private facility, not having public hours. Researchers can make arrangements for research.

Need:

Someone asks, “There are already hundreds of archives around the country, at the federal, state, and local level, historical societies, academic institutions, and community archives. Is this American Heritage Repository even necessary?

I am so glad you asked. In my professional library science and archival training, I discovered that of all the archives in existence, they only represent about 5 % of the people! That’s right. How can that be? Its actually simple: all the government archives collect on official government records, not what the individual Americans may possess at home, like that letter from grandpa he wrote on the front while in WWII. And the primary scope of collections for all INSTITUTIONAL archives (whether they are private or educational) is collecting institutional records. This leaves a large gap in records produced by individual Americans and possessed in families.

It is a lofty goal but everyone has a story. AHR would like to have each American’s story, just a 1-4 page story deposited with AHR. There is no competition and there is no respecter of persons; everyone is equally valued as a human being.

Legal Statements Overview:

No Discrimination of, Race, Ethnicity, Class/Socio-economic status, State, or Creed.

In first stage of operation, operated and administered by A USA PPP LLC, in business since September 2017 (LLC registered in May 2019). Once the Nonprofit A USA Preservation is registered and established, the A USA Preservation will take over the ownership of the organization’s property and administer and operate the AHR.

Depositing records of any kind or artifacts into AHR does not transfer ownership of any record, item, or archive. This is why this archive for the American people is named a “repository.”

Intellectual Rights including but not limited to Copyright ownership of the content of the records of enduring value (and records that may be determined to not be of enduring value) that come into AHR on deposit are maintained by the owners of those rights. AHR does not claim intellectual rights to any record, only in cases in which the depositor on the Deed of Gift checks the box that states their wish to transfer copyrighted materials to the AHR.

Integrity Statements Overview:

Administration, Facility, Archival work, and Records management of AHR are all done with high professional standards and high level of integrity. The SAA is looked to for high professional standards and best practices.
