Miracles needed for Raya
Hi everyone. If you know me then there’s a good chance you know my mom, Raya King. She is a force of nature and an incredible healer/bodyworker/ and has been doing it for almost 40 years. But now it’s time for her to get some healing of her own.
She’s currently receiving care at cedars Sinai medical center in Los Angeles and has been diagnosed with a rare form of non-alcoholic cirrhosis called “primary biliary cholangitis” and needs a liver transplant to survive. She’s never been a drinker. Crazy, right? I know. She should know within a week if she gets on the transplant list. Once on the list it’s a waiting game. She’s going to need 24/7 in home care and someone with the ability to get her to the hospital at the drop of a hat if a liver becomes available. It’s first come, first serve. If all goes well with the transplant she has an expected recovery time of 6-8 weeks or more with 24/7 care from at least two loved ones at home. We are looking into options for in home nurse care as well but she can’t get on the transplant list until two people sign off agreeing to provide in home care. I’m still in search of another person/persons to sign up to help out in the interim, which is a huge ask since people have their own busy lives. She cannot be in an assisted living facility because she will be too susceptible to infections, according to her doctors.
Over the past year she’s been struggling with her health but still giving her clients everything she has. Most people haven’t even noticed a difference at all. But now things have come to a head. She started experiencing symptoms of jaundice a few months ago and went through numerous tests to get a diagnosis.
So this is the part where we’re asking for help. Bodywork has been my moms main source of income for most of her life and now that she can’t work she’s going to need financial assistance going forward. And that’s where all the people that love her and know her and care about her so much come in.
My mom is the truest love of my life and I know that you all love her so much too. So if there’s anything you can spare it would be greatly appreciated. All the best. Jordan and team Raya!
