This page has been set up on behalf of all the staff of Waldorf Kindergarten to help raise some funds to cover the cost of Bumas funeral and hospital expenses. I will provide a full account to Waldorf, and anyone who requests it, of all funds received and sent to Fiji.

At this stage the staff are trying to cover the costs themselves. I know any small amount donated would be appreciated.

Buma peacefully passed away in hospital yesterday afternoon. Her daughter Mama, along with all the Flametree Waldorf staff, were there by her side as she took her final breath. She was not alone; she was wrapped in the same love she so freely gave to others throughout her life.

Since joining our Flametree Waldorf Kindergarten family in 2014, Buma has been the heart and soul of our kitchen, and a grandmother to every child who passed through our gates. Her meals were never just food — they were love served on a plate. Every pot she stirred carried her warmth; every meal she prepared was filled with her deep care for every little soul in our community.

Buma’s gentle smile, her laughter in the kitchen, her quiet wisdom, and her unwavering love made her one of the pillars of Waldorf Kindergarten Fiji. She nurtured not just hungry bellies, but tender hearts. For many of our children, her warm embrace was as healing as her meals — a true grandmother spirit that wrapped around them and made them feel safe, seen, and loved.

Everyone who knew Buma, past and present staff, parents, and children, carries a piece of her kindness, her wisdom, her unshakeable spirit. The little ones she nurtured, the parents she reassured, the teachers she lifted up, all of us are bound together by the love she poured into our community, day after day, year after year.

Even those who have long moved on from Flametree still remember her, the grandmother who wrapped every meal, every word, every smile in tenderness. Her legacy stretches far beyond these school walls. Buma was the heart of Waldorf Kindergarten Fiji.

Her presence was a blessing we will never forget. She lived with kindness, humility, and a deep commitment to serving others, expecting nothing in return. Her legacy is woven into the very heart of our school — into every joyful moment, every tradition, every meal shared.

Today, we mourn together as a family. We send all our love and prayers to Buma’s family, as we honor the beautiful, irreplaceable soul she was.
