My name is Ilda Amani Dorcas. As Miss Universe Congo 2024, a peace ambassador, women's rights advocate, and founder of the Amani Kwetu Foundation, I am dedicated to serving women in need. Born in Kinshasa and raised in Eastern Congo, a region plagued by conflict for over three decades, I understand the pain of war and have made it my life's mission to support women still living through it.
The Amani Kwetu Foundation is built on four pillars:
1. Women's empowerment
2. Access to education
3. Peace and unity
4. Protection of the environment
Our focus is on extending hope to the most vulnerable, particularly women and children left behind in times of war and displacement.
Currently, thousands of women and girls in Eastern DRC face their periods without access to basic necessities like pads, clean water, or healthcare. This is a matter of dignity, health, and human rights.
With your support, this project will:
- Distribute 1,000 reusable menstrual hygiene kits to women and girls
- Train 20 women in Goma to produce reusable pads and build small businesses
- Provide access to reproductive healthcare for 1,000 women
- Conduct an awareness campaign to break menstrual taboos and promote menstrual health education
Every donation, big or small, will directly impact a woman's life. Together, we can restore dignity and break the silence surrounding menstrual health.
Your contribution will help bring this project to life, providing practical help and breaking the stigma surrounding periods for young girls and women in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
