Many of us hoped that the path of AI would be informed by the cautionary tales we grew up with in futuristic sci-fi media. But like a plethora of other omens, it was ignored and the path of least resistance was followed by most of the big tech companies, including those claiming to be the good guys. They are all built around the premise that AI must be allowed to develop unchecked and unfettered by ethical concerns while striving to provide the most profits for their creators and investors.

What if there was another way? A way that wasn't building an unruly, resource intensive brute to be used by end stage capitalism in a last grasp for power from the large corporations that have shaped our modern hellscape? Well we’re freaking trying. And we think we’ve made a lot of headway. AI that helps, that includes human oversight, that provides meaningful change in the lives of the exploited. We’re bringing mental healthcare to countries in Africa and bringing logistics to telehealth clinic systems in rural India. We’d like to do so much more but we can’t without financial support.
