My name is Dario and I am the curator of an annual international exhibition series called "Echoes of Home". 2027 will be our 3rd annual edition of “Echoes of Home,” this time taking place in Ethiopia. Following previous exhibitions in Kenya (2025) and Egypt (2026), interdisciplinary artist and curator Dario Mohr will present a groundbreaking group exhibition featuring 30–40 Black and West Asian artists based in New York City exhibiting their work on the African continent for the very first time.

“Echoes of Home: Ethiopia” explores the cultural and historical intersections between Sub-Saharan Africa and the Arab world through contemporary art, creating a platform for dialogue around ancestry, migration, spirituality, identity, memory, and diasporic connection. By bringing together artists from diverse Black and West Asian backgrounds, the exhibition highlights the layered relationships between Africa, the Middle East, and their diasporas while challenging rigid geographic and cultural boundaries.

In the midst of ongoing political strife throughout the Middle East, as well as long-standing tensions between Black and Arab populations across North Eastern Africa, this exhibition is intended as an act of cultural bridge-building and solidarity. Through art, storytelling, and shared creative expression, “Echoes of Home” seeks to create space for empathy, mutual recognition, and human connection beyond the divisions of race, nationality, religion, and politics. Rather than centering conflict, the exhibition emphasizes the deep histories of exchange, coexistence, and influence that have long connected African and Arab communities.

This exhibition continues AnkhLave’s mission of building bridges through art and fostering meaningful exchange between artists whose practices are rooted in heritage, storytelling, and collective memory. Presenting these voices within Ethiopia creates a powerful opportunity for cultural reciprocity and artistic engagement at one of the historic crossroads between African and Arab civilizations.

Funds raised through this campaign will support international shipping and transportation of artwork, exhibition production and installation, venue costs, documentation, artist materials, local coordination in Ethiopia, and the creation of archival and promotional materials that preserve this historic moment of international exchange.

By supporting this campaign, you help expand access to global contemporary art, uplift emerging and underrepresented voices, and strengthen connections between Black and Arab communities across continents. Together, we can create an exhibition that honors the complexity of home, heritage, and shared histories through the transformative power of art.
