Help support the 2019 Fenton Tiger Cross Country Harriers!
The Fenton Cross Country team is looking for your support for their 2019 season. The growing program of 88 runners has seen great successes the past few years, including:
On the course:
- 3 straight Metro-League Championships for both the boys' and girls' teams.
- A first ever Division 1 regional championship for the boys in 2015, and for the girls in 2018
- D1 state qualifying teams in 3 out of the 4 last years for the boys, and the last 2 years for the girls.
-Top 15 finishes for both programs - 8th and 11th for the boys in 2015 and 2018, and 9th for the girls in 2018.
- 9 individual all-state performers from 2015 to 2018, more than doubling the previous program total.
Off the course:
-The program has grown from 33 runners in 2015 to a record high 88 runners for the 2019 season.
- 13 Academic All-state performers, and multiple team Academic All-state honors
- Volunteers in the community, supporting the Fenton Chamber and other charitable events, and numerous individual efforts as a part of our student's diverse involvement in service organizations.
-Team traditions have only grown in size and enthusiasm, including the annual Homecoming XC ball run, a record number of 75 campers at our annual XC running camp, and the traditional pasta parties hosted by a XC family the day before each meet.

Why we need your help:
With a growing team comes growing expenses and costs. Some of the purposes our fundraising dollars are used for:
- Uniforms for the team - more are needed each year to keep up with growth, and the replacement of worn kits.
- Tent repair, replacement, and meet/health equipment: The XC team is unique in that it travels to 100% of its competitions. Sheltering, provisioning for, and providing equipment is a an important aspect of keeping the team happy, healthy, and running well! Additionally, the team is looking to purchase several health and training devices such as foam rollers, thera-bands, and other implements to help runners rehab and train to be healthy for their competitions.
- Team warm ups: each year, athletes are issued warm-ups to keep warm on those chilly XC meet days, with the option to keep their warm-up top through MHSAA regulations with the successful completion of their fundraising goals. The up-front costs of warm-ups for the entire team typically ranges from $2500 to $4000, even with local discounts from area suppliers.
- Meet costs - while the majority of meet costs are covered by school athletic dollars, XC fundraising pays of the balance of our meet costs, which range from $125 a school to $200 depending on the competition.
- Assistant Coach Pay: FXC has one paid spot for our wonderful assistants - any other contributors are reimbursed from fundraising dollars. We try to reimburse to the maximum allowable tier of around $1900 for the entire season, which includes a summer and fall of otherwise volunteered hours of organizing, training, supporting and caring for our athletes, as well as the travel to practices and meets throughout the 5 month period.
We greatly appreciate your consideration in contributing to this wonderful program - it truly is a team that creates great memories for the student-athletes involved, builds great habits and values in these burgeoning members of the community, and allows the program to continue to grow and develop. We couldn't do it without your love and support!
