Canadian Tamil Youth Alliance (CTYA) is a federally registered non-profit organization established in 2009. CTYA is the largest combination of youth associations and groups nationwide with Tamil heritage, culture and language backgrounds. Together, through the alliance, we strive to educate and empower the youth in order to prepare them as transitional leaders of society. Through a unified goal and vision, Tamil Youth can spearhead the growth of the Tamil Nation.
For the past several years the CTYA has been working towards the establishment of Thazhumbakam - a Tamil Genocide Memorial Museum.
Since 2013, our mobile Thazhumbakam exhibits have been showcased at several community events geared towards Tamil genocide awareness.
This year, CTYA is hosting Macabre of The Silenced - our own genocide awareness event to present the Thazhumbakam exhibit and also showcase the ongoing Tamil advocacy work being done by diaspora youth. This event will also serve to launch new developments towards furthering the Thazhumbakam project.
While proceeds from past CTYA initiatives have been allocated towards the funding of Thazhumbakam initiatives, we would also like to take this opportunity to reach out to our community to help support this ongoing project. Any additional funds surpassing our goal will be put aside towards establishing a permanent Thazhumbakam space.
Every dollar can make an impact towards ensuring that our history is not forgotten.
