My best friend, Piper, lost her husband, Chris Myers, on Saturday leaving his family and friends heartbroken. Chris was loved by so many, and we weren’t ready to say goodbye. Many of you have asked, “how can I help?” In lieu of flowers, I’ve created this page in hopes of helping with the family’s financial burden of funeral expenses. All donations will go directly to Piper.
I borrowed the following message off a post Piper wrote on her Facebook page.
“I am so so thankful for my family and my friends. They have all been so wonderful to me. And I am thankful for all the family and friends I didn’t know I had. So many people know and love my husband. I am reminded that there is so much about him that I haven’t discovered yet. There are so many friends I haven’t met and so many stories I haven’t heard.
I am thankful that I was his wife.
My sweet, wonderful, kind, loving, hilarious, handsome, generous, charming, goofy, brave, playful, passionate, caring, helpful, hard-working, true-loving, never-met-a-stranger, give-you-the-shirt-off-his-back husband died yesterday. And now my world is all pear-shaped.
Thank you everyone for the calls and texts and messages and visits and carrier pigeons and smoke signals and, most importantly, the prayers that I have truly truly felt all day long. You will never know how much it means to me.
I have really been enjoying all the pictures people have been posting. Thank you so much whoever started that. It really helps. I just can’t believe that I will never see that smile again or hear that laugh.
None of this makes sense and I still kind of feel like this is happening to someone else. This can’t be me this is happening to and it certainly can’t be #thatchrismyers we are talking about.
My God is sovereign. He is in the same place He was when His own Beloved died. I am resting in His Love and His Grace and His Mercy. He gives and He takes. He breathes in and He breathes out, blessed be His Name.
If anyone has a story they would like to tell me about my husband I would love to hear it. Especially funny ones. If you ever got stuck in the mud with him, or cut class with him, or played a trick on him, or he played one on you. Anything.
If he ever shared Jesus with you and it changed you, or helped to change you, or is changing you now. Please tell me.
I love you all. Thank you for your prayers. Please keep them coming. I can really feel them.”
He was loved and cherished by many people including : his wife, Piper Sharp Myers; his daughters, Olivia, Magnolia; his step-parents, Steve, Angie Myers; his parents, Denise Shumate, Ted Myers; his siblings, Brandon Myers, Erica Myers; his grandparents, Yvonne Walters, Gladys Harry, David L. Myers, Jr., Billy Gene Harry, Wevett Myers. He was also cherished by niece and nephew, numerous cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Billy Gene Harry and grandmother, Wevett Myers
