On the night before Thanksgiving 2022, my son and his family narrowly escaped a fire that started in the attic due to old faulty wiring. They had mere minutes to get everyone out of the house, including my two grandsons (age 9 and 7), three dogs, 7 cats — including 4 foster babies — and two lizards. Unfortunately, the fish didn’t make it.

Because they didn’t have renter’s insurance, they are basically starting from scratch to rebuild their lives.

We are so grateful for their safety, but it’s going to be a long haul for them to recover what they lost.
