Thank you Southmead Hospital

We want to say thank you to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at Southmead Hospital.
At 26 weeks pregnant I unexpectedly went into labour. Terrified and overwhelmed we were whisked by ambulance to Southmead Hospital, 124 miles away from home, away from family and with no idea whether our daughter was going to survive.
Robyn was born on 12th April, weighing a tiny 2lb4oz but thanks to the incredible team at Southmead NICU she survived. We spent 7 weeks in Bristol, able to be with her 24/7 thanks to the charity run accommodation we were housed in. We spend those first few weeks living one day at a time, not knowing what the next day would bring but being thankful that we could hold our daughter in our arms and be by her side every step of the way.
She faced a lot of challenges but the team at Southmead saved her life, countless times. Not only that but they taught us how to care for such a small, poorly baby and how to comfort her. They made sure she was loved when we couldn’t be there. They were there to comfort us during the hard days but also celebrated the good days with us.
It was a hard start to Robyn’s life, but it was made easier thanks to the support we received whilst in Bristol.
My daughter wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them and we would love to give back in order to help all of the future parents and future baby Robyn’s.
