We are living in a time that is currently very disrupted not only by COVID-19, but by the destruction of many businesses from fires, looting and loss of sales. A lot of anger and uncertainty is in our world right now. All of this has contributed to a very large number of people now unemployed and looking for a new way to survive and/or keep their business alive. Especially farmers.
As a bright light in this darkness, Sazzy Varga-Calhoun has created a Facebook group, Farm Direct Minnesota, and a website like no one I have ever seen. In less than three months, she has created a community of over 47,000 of us to sell without fees and buy with convenience and fair prices! I have personally benefited tremendously from joining this group and have only been a member for TWO DAYS! I have over 500 likes of a painting I posted with so many positive comments. A lifetime has been spent trying to accomplish the commission sales that have started as a result of this amazing group that Sazzy created.
Sazzy Varga-Calhoun is one whose livelihood has been disrupted and this very talented movie assistant director is not able to work and has no income, yet she has created a place for so many of us to continue to receive an income and/or buy products at fair prices. I have set up a GoFundMe to thank her and to cover her hard costs: Website cost to secure domain URL and hosting, SSL for a year, business cards, creating the website without having to pay someone to do it, owning the $1,800 programs to run it, managing and updating the map so people can find each other, fixing addresses and spelling errors, helping people sell, monitoring the site over 10 hours a day to keeping it running, looking for other outlets for farmers and vendors, so they can KEEP FARMING.
