Thane needs your help!

Thane could use your support!
He'd be too embarrassed to ask for it because that's not the type of guy Thane is... but that's what friends are for, right?
I have known Thane for more than 25 years, since the late 90s when I met him at Heaven nightclub.

Think about the Thane you know and love, for me, he's the smiling face who's having a great time dancing like a machine in the club, wanting everyone around him to be having a great time too.  He walks in, MC Tim spells out his name on the mic and Thane becomes that guy at the party that everyone wants to know. He's a funny, intelligent, caring, and loyal friend, who is always there to show you how to fix or build something no matter what.

He's the friend that's not afraid of hard work who shows up with a paint brush, sausages and bread, to help you with your renno's or whatever it is you're doing.  I can distinctly remember him helping me for a week laying a tonne of floating floorboards in two houses eating pink finger buns and having a good laugh.  It's not because he wants something in return, it's because he loves being in your company, sharing his skills and to help make things in YOUR life better. Now I want to help make things better for him.

I've been a good friend of Thane's for more than half my life, and, due to me now living abroad, I have felt a little helpless seeing him try and cope with his struggles of 2021. For those who may not be aware of his struggles, I'll explain: Thane has severe erectile dysfunction - Haha I'm joking.

In January 2021 a young, fit, healthy, and somewhat unattractive 43-year-old Thane suffered a stroke which came as a huge shock, not only to him, but for everyone that knows him. Off to emergency in an ambulance, where a number of clots were extracted from inside his brain (Yes, he has one!) In true Thane style he fought against the physical and mental deficits and disabilities that threatened to change his life forever and used his strength and intelligence to stay on top and walked himself out of hospital in less than 7 days, but this was just the start of his battle.

What? How? He's too young and healthy for this.

The specialists started to look for possible causes. A week later he returned to hospital for a bone marrow biopsy as they search for answers. In the meantime, while he waited for the results, he discovered an internal bleed which put him straight back into hospital Emergency Department, and soon he had a camera and some clever tools poked up his bum where they fixed a bleed, and took another biopsy.

Whilst in hospital, the results from the first biopsy come through and Thane was then informed that the stroke was the side effect of a rare and incurable form of blood cancer called Multiple Myeloma which was working in conjunction with another incurable disease called Amyloidosis. Amyloidosis is a feral protein created by the plasma that embeds in organ walls and causes the organs to fail (lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, bowel, etc).

To cut a long story short, here began the fight of his life for his life.

Without treatment, his days on Earth will be very limited and, after 10 months off work without income, he now has to endure the nasty chemo treatments.  Naturally, this has meant some things in his life have suffered. His family, who are some of the nicest, most caring, loving people you will ever meet, have been an enormous support for him during this time but funds can only stretch so far before things really begin to fall apart.

During this time off Thane has fallen behind in life. That growth we all have and take for granted has been forced to be put on hold for him for what will end up being at least 2 years. His mortgage is behind and the banks assistance has reached its limit. He's exhausted all his savings trying to stay on top of things with a very minimal income due to his inability to work full time during recovery.

Just to make things worse, he's now also going to be out of action whilst he undergoes the hardest and worst part of his treatment plan, a Bone Marrow Transplant. This is one of the toughest things any human body will ever do and will bring him to his knees. His immune system will be completely destroyed by highly potent chemotherapy drugs to make way for a new immune system which will take a number of months to mature. I’m not very good at science, or words, but I personally don't like the sound of this and will do whatever I can to help my friend of 25 years, and I'd love it if you could help too.

Let's be good friends by digging deep to show our love and support for this one-of-a-kind legend of a human.

We can't give him our good health which we all take for granted, but we can spare some cash to help take some stress away so he can heal easily and get back to living a wonderful life.

Your donation no matter how large or small will help him keep his house and feed him until he can get back on his feet and return to full time work.

If you have read this far you obviously care about Thane as much as I do so please, please help as much as you can.

Thanks

Paul
