My name is Carter Bliss, I am two years old. I like playing trucks and Legos with my older brother Connor, and I LOVE acting goofy to make my little sister Madeline laugh!! I am always the first one to hug my dad 10 times when he comes home. Mom says hugs from me will make you melt. but don't be fooled, I am a BIG trouble maker!
When I was born, the doctors said I had Hydronephrosis to my left kidney. When I was two months old, I got sick and my parents took me to the hospital. After almost a day there they said I became septic and told my mom and dad it was up to me now, so I fought, and fought hard!
I have to go to the doctor a lot, and get a bunch of tests done. It can really be hard on me at times. I have many great days and some bad but I am a very happy boy!
My doctor has been monitoring my kidney for the past two years now. Originally they thought a stent would take care of my problem. I had a Cystoscopy in June and the valve to my kidney needs to be completely reconstructed so I can keep it and stay healthy. My surgery is July 31st. My parents have insurance for me but they pay $1,463 a month to keep us healthy and a reasonable deductible.
My insurance is July through June, so my deductible of $5,000 started over. The hospital wants my deductible upfront so to prevent permanent kidney damage and because I will also have to go back in 4 weeks for an additional surgery
This has been financially difficult for my parents. They have not been able to recover financially from when I got sick mainly due to the high insurance costs and kidney specialist visits. Anything you can do to help will be greatly appreciated. Please share my story with others
