Much love x
*UPDATE 24/8/25*
Sara was due her third round of treatment in Germany this week but unfortunately is still not well enough for this. She is still suffering from ongoing colitis, as well as her body not being strong enough yet for more treatment.
We hope that Sara will be in a better position to go back out within the next week or two.
In the meantime, Sara is continuing with supplements, alternative therapies and oils and we are eternally grateful for this go fund me, which is allowing us to continue to do this.
As always, thank-you for your love, thoughts, well wishes and support.
Forever grateful
*UPDATE 11/7/25*
Sorry it has taken a while for this update, Sara took extremely unwell and was admitted to hospital on her return from Germany.
After a lot of investigations, Sara is suffering from colitis, caused by an infection in the bowel which has caused excruciating pain and severe vomiting. Her symptoms are now being managed well with a syringe driver, fluids, steroids and iv antibiotics. She has also had another blood transfusion. This going on, alongside recovering from Tace treatment, has meant it has been a very critical week for Sara, but she is starting to make some improvements.
On a more positive note, the MRI scan that Sara had when in Germany showed an amazing 38% reduction in tumours in the liver and a 50% reduction in activity, after only one TACE treatment!!
Some of you may not be aware, but Sara was given weeks to live 3 months ago, so to get this news is absolutely unimaginable!
Again, we cannot express our gratitude to each one of you who has supported this go fund me … this wouldn’t be possible without you. There really are no words ❤️
Thankyou
* UPDATE 3/7/25*
After a very tough recovery, a respiratory infection, a stomach bug and lots of issues with bloods, including the need for a blood transfusion, Sara has finally been given the go ahead for a second TACE treatment in Germany! She is currently on route and will be having her treatment tomorrow. Before her treatment in the morning, Sara will have an MRI to find out if her first round of TACE was successful. Please continue to keep Sara in your thoughts and as always, a huge thank you for your continued support.
*UPDATE 27/5/25*
We continue to be blown away by the love and support surrounding Sara and we want to say a massive thank you. It really has been invaluable.
The past 13 days have been undeniably the hardest days that Sara has ever experienced; physically, emotionally and mentally. Her body has been hit extremely hard with the side effects of treatment and she has spent the last 13 days mainly in bed trying to manage extreme pain, nausea, vomiting and extreme fatigue.
The last couple of days have brought some improvement and we are praying that Sara is on the up. Despite everything (and although there were times where Sara thought she couldn’t go on), Sara is defying the odds that are stacked against her and she continues to amaze us with her strength, courage and grit.
Keep sharing far and wide .
#HOPE
Xx
*UPDATE 14/5/25*
Firstly, we wanted to thank you all for the unbelievable support we have received over the past 72 hours. The donations, the shares and the kind words of encouragement mean the absolute world to us. Sara has felt nothing but love, support and gratitude, and knowing how many people are behind her, is making her fight harder.
Yesterday we finally got some positive news! Sara has been accepted to get treatment in Germany! This is a major step forward in Sara’s journey and one that was not even possible this time last week. The last 24 hours have been a complete whirlwind. As I type this, we (Gillian, Sara’s sister, Sara and Ross, Sara’s husband) are on our way to Dublin to get on a flight to Germany, to get private treatment tomorrow. This treatment costs approximately £5000 per treatment, every 4 weeks, which wouldn’t be possible without all of your kind donations. So thank you, thank you, thank you.
Of course with any treatment, there are a lot of risks for Sara, but this is a risk we have to take, given her current prognosis. Please continue to keep Sara in your thoughts and prayers and keep sharing far and wide so that we can continue to fund treatment in Germany.
We will continue to keep you all updated on Sara’s journey.
Lets do this!!
Story
Those of you that have followed Sara’s story will know that in 2018, at the young age of 33, she was diagnosed with primary breast cancer. After gruesome treatment and ringing the bell to be cancer free, Sara received the devastating news in 2022, that her cancer had returned, but this time secondary, stage 4 and incurable.
Sara was told she had extensive cancer throughout multiple bones including ribs, hips, pelvis, sternum, shoulder, femur and spine. The tumours were so advanced on her spine that they had caused huge fractures, which resulted in Sara having major spinal surgery. Sara began treatment, which thankfully kept her stable for 3 years.
Unfortunately a routine CT scan in January 2025 showed some suspicion in her liver, and a further MRI confirmed that Sara’s treatment was no longer working, with huge progression to her liver. Her liver is covered in tumours and the cancer is very aggressive. Her bone marrow is now beginning to fail, leaving us at a very critical stage in Sara’s journey.
Due to all of this, Sara is currently unable to have treatment on the NHS and for this reason, we have been told she does not have long left. But we are not ready to give up!!! We have been researching other treatment options, including integrative and alternative treatments, some of which Sara had already been self-funding. With the severity of the situation now, all of this needs to be increased, and new protocols started, making self-funding unsustainable as all of this costs a lot of money.
From these protocols and treatments, the main aim is to get Sara’s body and bloods in the best possible position to be able to try and push forward with some form of chemo (including consideration of treatment abroad).
Sara has worked hard her whole life. She goes above and beyond for her family and friends, and throughout her cancer journey, has inspired, motivated and provided support and hope to so many people, never wanting anything in return. Now it is our turn to help Sara.
Her loved ones are launching this fundraising campaign to help Sara get the protocols and treatment she needs at this point. Sara’s family and 2 young children are her complete world, and at this crucial stage, she will do anything to have just a little bit more time with them.
Although Sara has been very unwell recently and is experiencing a huge amount of side effects from the disease, she has continued to show the most unbelievable strength, courage and positivity throughout the utmost challenging times and we are so proud of her.
Every penny donated will go directly towards Sara’s treatments and every act of generosity will be deeply appreciated.
Please only donate if you are in a position to. Your positive thoughts, prayers and support are just as important to us. Please share far and wide.
Thank-you from the bottom of our broken hearts
Sara’s loved ones
