My wife and I are raising money to help save our 6 month old Chihuahua mix, Dobby. After spending $1,200 on blood tests and emergency vets, the most likely explanation is a Congenital Liver Shunt. This means that he was born with a blood vessel wrapped around his liver, causing improper toxin filtration in his blood resulting in rapidly deteriorating neurological issues. The optimistic part is that this is very treatable, has upwards of a 95% success rate, and puppies that undergo surgery to correct this problem go on to live full and healthy lives.
We have been referred to a specialist in Richmond for further care but total costs for exams and surgery can run up to $20,000. On top of all this, we have a daughter, Freya, due in the next 3 weeks. I'm a high school education teacher, and my wife is a stay at home mom. There is no way that we can afford this, but we refuse to not do everything we can to help Dobby live a full and happy life.
I'm not a person that asks for help, and I'm trying to hold back tears as I write this, but we need any help that you can give. I have started this with just the amount we need to get the testing done that he needs. Please, help us.
