Mark Fields’s has worked in the beauty industry for decades, as a stylist, salon owner and for the last thirty years he has been working along with our wonderful team at La Moda Hair Salon in East Northport.
During these years at La Moda he has certainly had his share of ups and downs regarding his health. About twenty years ago Mark had a massive heart attack and underwent quadruple bypass surgery. It was quite a rough road to recovery but thankfully we all "nursed" him back to health and he came back stronger than ever, being able to do what he loves the most, spending time with those he loves, working at the salon and golfing.
Unfortunately, after numerous years of being in good health, continuing to work and enjoying life, Mark is once again experiencing an unforeseen heath crisis.
After recently celebrating his 65th birthday on July 31, Mark was not feeling well. His doctor immediately sent him to the emergency room for testing and his health crisis has been escalating ever since. Initially being admitted for double kidney failure and gastric issues, Mark then experienced heart irregularities and a serious infection which has been requiring multiple blood transfusions. He nearly lost his life during these initial complications but is trying to bounce back like a trooper, fighting all the way.
Unfortunately, Mark is still at Stony Brook University Hospital and is expected to be admitted for an unforeseen amount of time. Therefore, as many of you may know, hairdressers often do not have the necessary benefits, health insurance or a retirement plan needed in order to sustain such a debilitating health crisis.
To all of us at La Moda, Mark is not just a colleague. He is clearly a very respected and important member of the La Moda Family. We are hoping that as a team, we are able to raise the funds in order to help Mark pay for his medical fees, rent, and any other necessary expenses, so he can focus on healing and getting well.
Mark has always been there for us, no matter what, and now we all feel that we need to be there for him. We truly have full faith that he will once again be able to bounce back and be good as new.
Please, whatever you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated by all.
Sincerely yours,
Team Mark
