Last week, my grandparents—who have lived in Malibu since the 1980s—lost everything in the devastating fire. As immigrants from Korea, they worked tirelessly to build a life here, saving for years to buy their first and only home. That home has been filled with cherished memories and a reflection of their incredible resilience.

When the fire broke out, they evacuated Tuesday morning, expecting to return later that day. Tragically, they were unable to go back, and everything they had was consumed by the fire. While we are profoundly grateful for their safety, the emotional and financial toll of this loss has been immense.
