Janie Pool is a loving, energetic, light-up-the-room wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and volunteer.  The only thing bigger than her heart is her faith.  Janie has been fighting a long, intense battle with  islet-cell neuroendocrine cancer, that originated in her pancreas, since 2009.  This is the same rare form of cancer that took the life of Steve Jobs.  However, Steve Jobs chose to seek out alternative forms (not Western or modern-day technology) of medicine to aid in his cancer.

Janie received devastating news on her last visit to MD Anderson in April.  She was hoping to hear her tumors were shrinking, or better yet gone, but instead was told there had been significant growth.  Her only option is Peptide Receptor Radionuclide Therapy (PRRT); which has had a high success rate in Europe for about 10 years but is not approved in the U.S. and therefore not covered by insurance.

Janie may be approved for an upcoming clinical trial at St. Luke's hospital in Houston, Texas but would have to cover the cost of $40K for 4 treatments.  If not approved, she and her husband Scott would travel back and forth to Europe for 4 treatments, each requiring a week-long stay. 

All of the $60,000 raised will go to support Janie, Scott, and their 14 year-old son Connor.  The funds will be used to cover medical, travel and living expenses and to help take the financial burden out of the equation so they can focus on her journey to healing.
