Car totalled by drunk driver

My name is Holden Lombard, and I am an 11th grade Physics teacher in Chicago, IL. I was hit from behind by a drunk driver around 3:00am on Friday October 25th. I was traveling east on I-94, heading to one of my favorite hunting and fishing spots after a long week. As I was driving in the 2nd from the left lane, a drunk driver smashed into the back of my pick up truck. The back of my truck was lifted up, and when it came back down to the asphalt, the truck began to fishtail and spun across the lanes to the right. I was thrown into the steering wheel and the center console flew across my car and hit the side of my head. My truck crossed the highway in front of oncoming traffic and came to a stop into the right embankment. My camper top flew off along with everything I had in the bed: fishing and hunting equipment, clothing, supplies, tools, and gear; things that have taken me years to accumulate and become proficient with. Unfortunately, the driver who caused the accident does not have insurance. Therefore, I am responsible for all charges associated with the collision: towing, storage, rental car, purchasing a new vehicle and replacing the lost items from the accident. This was my late-grandfather's 2007 Toyota pickup truck, given to me by family. I've done my best to maintain it over these past 12 years. This truck meant a lot to me and I'm sad to see it go under these circumstances. A new truck would help tremendously in getting to work and the various afterschool activities that I participate in as a teacher and coach. It would also support me as I pursue my passion of outdoor activities. I really appreciate any and all support in moving forward with my life.
