On Friday, May 10th, my dearest friend, Robbie Lee became unconscious and had to be rushed to the hospital due to a brain bleed. They ran test and found that he had an arteriovenous malformation (AVM), or an abnormal connection between arteries and veins that had burst. The blood had caused the brain to shift and swell. They immediately performed a craniotomy and evacuated as much blood as they could and left a drain in.
After surgery, he was kept sedated and transferred two hours away to University Health in Shreveport to ensure that he would receive the best care possible to begin the road to recovery. We've had a few setbacks. Robbie developed an infection in his lungs that required him to continue to be sedated and ventilated. As of Wednesday, May 15th, his fever finally broke and doctors started discussing how they were going to try to slowly take him off the vent.
This is going to be a lot longer process than any of us had hoped.
Robbie is a fighter. He's one of the strongest men I know. He's got a long road ahead, but this isn't his first fight! To know Robbie is to love him. It's been on my heart to share his story in hopes to spread love and show support to him and his family during such a difficult time. No one is ever prepared for times like this. The medical expenses without insurance aren't going to be cheap, not to mention the cost of gas and hotel expenses, along with his monthly bills that need to be taken care of.
"A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal."
Any donation counts and will go directly to his family. We ask for continued prayer and believe God for healing. Thank you for letting me share.
