The Haddock family

The Haddock family has been facing health challenges for the past 20 months, starting with their daughter and now the mother. In addition to Dad losing his job and car troubles. For backstory, Ruby Haddock is a miracle baby. She is almost 20 months now. While in utero, her umbilical cord started flowing backwards so she was born via emergency c section with her and her twin. Before they took her out, she pooped and inhaled it causing meconium aspiration syndrome and severe oxygen deprivation. She was intubated and care flighted to Dallas and had hyperthermic treatment for 3 days. She required more than one blood transfusion, had some heart issues, blood pressure issues, urine issues, etc. but she started breathing well so they took her tube out and within 24 hours she regressed to needing 100% oxygen and developed an extensive brain bleed. This left her with brain damage to the majority of her brain. She started having seizures which are still trying to control with 3 meds and she also developed hydrocephalus. Ruby was in the Nicu for months and during that time she had 3 surgeries. She was able to come home and now she has to have speech therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. We also have vision services because she operates at the level of blindness. She seems to have very little vision to her left, but one of the side affect of one of her seizure meds is vision loss so we are trying to get her off of that with her new meds. She sees many specialist and she works so hard, but it has been a very hard road to travel. Ruby has just recently been released from the hospital for back to back pneumonia and now Mom is having health issues and has been hospitalized. Dad’s job shut down and he is now having to be the primary caretaker between the hospital and home so he is putting off the search for a job at the moment. The family needs help with bills while neither party is able to work and car repairs to be able to drive the children. Of course, good thoughts and prayers are always welcomed as well.
