PCRF provides free medical care and humanitarian aid to children in the Middle East, regardless of religion or politics, including surgeries, cancer treatment, and prosthetic care for kids who would otherwise have little access to treatment.

For my 40th birthday, I’m raising $4,088 for PCRF — 40 to mark a milestone year, and 88 for good luck in Chinese culture.

I started my career in global health in Uganda, China and India and once aspired to work for a medical humanitarian organization like PCRF or MSF before ultimately leaving the clinical path. Those values have stayed with me.

As an immigrant and a parent, I’m keenly aware of privilege and recognize that what separates my children’s lives from those served by organizations like PCRF is largely a matter of the birth lottery.

Li and I also had the opportunity to visit the Middle East, including the West Bank and refugee camps in Lebanon, which left lasting impressions and reinforced for me the importance of humanitarian support for civilians — especially children.
