Help Marina Fight Rare Brain Cancer

Hi everyone,

My name is Marina Youssef Fariz, I’m 19 years old, and I never imagined I’d be writing this. A few months ago, my life changed completely when I was diagnosed with Diffuse Hemispheric Glioma, H3 G34-mutant (WHO Grade IV) - a very rare and aggressive brain cancer that usually affects children and young adults. Because this tumour is located in a critical area on the right side of my brain, it is pressing in the right side of my nerves which made the left side of my body numb, I have lost sensation in my arm and leg, can now barely move them. For this reason, the tumour is inoperable. The doctors gave me a prognosis of only 18–24 months - but I refuse to let that number define me.

My Life Before Diagnosis:
In May 2025, I began experiencing new neurological symptoms — numbness and weakness. Scans revealed a large brain tumour, and hearing the words “H3 G34-mutant glioma” felt unreal.

Before all of this, I was preparing to begin my first year at the University of Brighton, studying MPharm. I’ve always been a creative person - I love expressing myself through art, beauty, and ideas - and one of my biggest dreams has been to build my own creative business.
I am also a proud Coptic Christian, and my faith has carried me through some of the hardest times in my life.
My dad, my older brotherGeorge, my older sister Maria,  my twin sister Yustina, my dog Kuky, & my friends have been my world. They are my strength, my laughter, and the reason I keep fighting.

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything:
I’ve already completed six weeks of radiotherapy alongside daily chemotherapy (145 mg), finishing on 17th August. Now, I’ve started the second phase: 300 mg of chemotherapy for 5 days each month, for 6 months. But here’s the reality - treatment options in the UK through the NHS or private for my type of tumour are very limited. Standard chemo and radiotherapy can slow things down, but they are not a cure. To truly fight this cancer, I need to seek advanced treatment abroad such as Germany, where specialists are offering cutting-edge immunotherapy and clinical trials that give me real hope.

Why I Need Your Help:
The cost of pursuing treatment abroad is overwhelming. This is far beyond what my family and I can manage alone.
Your contribution no matter how small will go directly toward:
  • Advanced medical treatment abroad
  • Essential supportive care and medications

If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this campaign with your friends and family.

Your kindness means the world to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your compassion, generosity, and prayers.

Together, we can give hope a fighting chance.
I have faith. God bless you all.
