When you teach and coach for a living,  your co-workers soon become your family.  And when your family needs help, you do all that you can to support them.  Well that day has come..."T-Farr & Fam Need a Boost for Bron!"

My name is Heather Sanders and I have started this GoFundMe page for one of my co-workers and very best friends, Tara Farr.  Tara and her husband Cody have encountered significant and unexpected medical expenses since their youngest son Bron was hospitalized over 3 weeks ago.  Bron is a healthy, athletic 16 year old sophomore that plays football and baseball at Canyon High School in New Braunfels, TX.  He is also a type 1 diabetic.  T-Farr, as she is affectionately known, has been an athletic trainer at Canyon High School for the past 20 years and has dedicated her much of her life to the student-athletes of CHS.  She is one of the greatest humans I've ever known and I hope you will consider helping her family during this difficult time.

Below is an account of the events leading up to this point:

Tara took Bron to the emergency room on Monday, January 11th with abdominal pain.  He was diagnosed with appendicitis and required an emergency appendectomy. The surgeon informed Tara and Cody that the procedure was difficult and unique because Bron’s appendix was hiding in a hole of tissue and that it ended up being perforating during the removal.

During his recovery Bron developed an “ileus” (a painful obstruction in the bowel). The doctors tried to treat him conservatively with a nasogastric tube and intestinal rest. This treatment did not resolve the obstruction and on January 18th, it was determined that he would need surgery #2.

The doctors tried to do the second surgery laparoscopically but in the end, they had to open him up to find the problem.  During the procedure the surgeon found two separate intestinal adhesions causing kinks in the small intestine, an appendicolith (rock from inside the appendix), and a tiny nub of the appendix that broke off during the initial surgery.   He made the repairs and it was expected that Bron would go home in a few days.

Although Bron began to feel better at first, complications returned. The doctors scheduled  CT scans, X-rays and lab work in an attempt to solve the problem.  After an upper GI scan on January 27th,  they have found one more partial obstruction. As a result, Bron had his 3rd surgery on January 28th.  The doctors were meticulous in their search for any other abnormalities and are hoping that the 3rd time was the charm.  Although he may require a blood transfusion after this last surgery, they are hopeful he will begin feeling better soon and is able to go home in another 4-5 days.

Bron's hospital stay will soon approach the one month mark.  Tara has not left the hospital one time and for those of you that know her, you are not surprised.  She and I broached the subject of the cost of his stay the other night and I could sense the trepidation in her voice.  I offered to set up this page in an attempt to help ease their financial burden and she agreed.

No amount is too small to help "Boost Bron" and I hope you will consider giving!
