Hello! IN THE JUNGLE is a short film written by Wisconsin native Chelsea Kania, directed by award-winning director Ky Dickens, and produced by Amy McIntyre and Sydney Thomson, in partnership with Big Syd Productions. ITJ is inspired by the real life of Chelsea's father and her uncle who were born with profound hearing loss but grew up attending schools for the hearing where they were often bullied.

We shot the film at Wisconsin School for the Deaf over two summer days with the help of a very supportive Crew and Cast out of Illinois and Wisconsin. Many donated their time, resources, and labor to help make this film happen. Along with the WSFD, Chicago and Delavan vendors supported our film with equipment, production supplies, and meals. IN THE JUNGLE is nearing the finish line with post production in full swing. This film has been, and continues to be, a labor of love driven by Chelsea and her family and generous donations and support from our communities and beyond.

We are grateful for the many individuals and organizations who have supported us through production, including HEAR Wisconsin, Outreach Services for the Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and Deafblind, Ultratec, SPG Therapy, and Lions Clubs all across the state of Wisconsin!

As we near completion of the Editorial phase of the film we welcome and appreciate any additional funding as we enter the final phase of promotion and screenings.

IN THE JUNGLE SYNOPSIS

The year is 1970 and it's a typical school day for twelve-year-old Eric, but Eric is not a typical boy. With hearing aids, a giant pair of glasses and the status of 'outcast', he's a perpetual loner at the back of the class at a school for the hearing. And on the day the class lesson is 'survival of the fittest,' he must face the school bully and decide whether he's a lion, a gazelle, or the king of the jungle.
