Garcia Family Funeral Expense

Miguel and Christina Garcia gave birth to their first daughter on April 21, 2015 who passed a few days later on April 30, 2015.  Christina Garcia would like to share a message about her love, Amanda Milagros Garcia.

"As we decided to carry on with the pregnancy we knew that our little bundle of joy had brain, heart, stomach, and cleft lip defects.  We saw several specialists and were given hope by the cardiologist and gastroenterologist.

We maintained our faith from the beginning and prayed every day that God would heal every inch of her body.  Our darling girl, Amanda, was expected to be born on May 4th.  Our doctor realized that she had stopped developing and labor was induced.  Amanda was born on April 21st at 8:05 a.m.

She was immediately sent to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Children's Rady Hospital and dad accomponied the medical team.  It was the hardest most devastating 48 hours of my life not being able to see my daughter except through pictures.

She was quickly put on medication to keep her heart valve open for surgery.  For two days we didn't hear anything from our doctors and it compounded the pain of not being with my daughter.  I found relief knowing that the medical staff were able stabilize her and surgery wasn't needed.

Soon we found out that surgery wasn't a possibility because she was too small only weighing 3 lbs 12 oz.  Several test were performed were we learned that Amanda's brain never finished developing.  Any surgery would have been too painful and cause an epileptic seizure.

We were faced with a decision that a mother or father could never imagine to make.  We could no longer bear to see our daughter suffer and the decision was made to remove all tubes and oxygen.  It was the toughest, most sorrowful day of our lives watching our daughter leave this world."

Miguel, 26, and Christina, 22, are a young couple devoted to each other and to their faith in God.  The  love they felt for Amanda during her short time on this earth will last for a lifetime in her parent's hearts.

Of course, this was not the outcome that they had hoped and planned for, and now, along with their grief, they are burdened with mounting funeral and medical expenses.  It is my sincere hope that anyone who reads this letter will find it in their hearts to give a donation, however small, towards helping this family recover from their loss.
