Fund Raiser Campaign For Chaplain Luis Gomez


As some of you may know, our dear and beloved Chaplain Gomez has been recently diagnosed with stage three lung cancer. While he is a non-smoker, he falls into that small percentage of non-smoking patients afflicted by lung cancer. He is now in the process of receiving chemo and radiation treatment on a daily basis.

Chaplain Gomez has faithfully served Harris County patients and their families at HarrisHealth Hospital System for over thirty years. The purpose of this campaign is to raise money to assist him in meeting his expenses during this difficult time. Chaplain Gomez will lose his medical insurance if unable to pay premiums and therefore will be unable to complete his treatment. He has exhausted his Paid Time Off (PTO) hours due to medical issues. He started his treatment in October and he is expected to be out of work for approximately two  to three months.
Luis A. Gomez has been in touch with human suffering and human sensitivities for all of his professional life. Serving humanity in this capacity has allowed him to grow in grace and sympathy. Chaplain Gomez has intervened in the emergency room and entire hospital touching and elevating the lives of many in need of pastoral care. His caring intervention brings calm and spiritual healing to patients in trauma, as well as victims and perpetrators of violent crimes and patients with chronic diseases.
