Hi friends, family, and loved ones,
Recently, I was on a walk with Pea Knuckle and walked past several of these flyers in my neighborhood. I texted the number on the flyer to ask if the scooter had been returned, and it had not.
I got to talking to this person, who ended up being a 27-year-old woman named Emily. She is currently living here in Clermont with her elderly mother, who she lives with and takes care of. She has two jobs: one is at the local elementary school 7:15 am to 2:15 pm taking care of children with special needs, and the other is at a nursing home across town from 2:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
When I asked her how she was getting to and from work, she said she was trying to use multiple means of transportation but she did not have the money to take any more Uber rides, so she relied on her scooter. But now that it has been stolen, she is walking. She is in the process of trying to save to take her driver's education course to get her license, as no one in her family has ever driven.
I have been giving Emily rides to work in the morning, picking her up daily at 2:15 to take her to her second job, and then I pick her up at 8 pm in the evening after she has worked a 13-hour day. She is always smiling, positive, extremely grateful, and very hard-working. I want to help this young lady get her scooter back and pay for her driver's education class to give her some light at the end of the tunnel. Scooter cost- $400 and the Behind the Wheel Course is $900.
Whatever you can give to help this young lady is going to a very worthy individual. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Love, Angie
