Hello friends!

We are Karen (speaking), Britta, Liz, Charles, Cye and Lydia, the staff of the independently owned bar, the Basement Pub.

You may have come in for happy hour, to play chess, paint on the patio, say hello to the regulars and possibly leave with a random loaf of bread or cookies brought in by other industry folk.

Our beloved Basement Pub had to unexpectedly close on January 7th due to structural damage of a load bearing beam that compromised the integrity of the building and safety of everyone inside. The repairs have a projected wait time of 3 months minimum, but as many small business owners know, projects are unpredictable and the bureaucracy it entails can add an unknown number of months before reopening.

Bartenders earn a major part of our income through tips, and January through March are already usually particularly rough to make ends meet.

We have been asked by so many of our friends how they can support us, so I’ve decided to set up this account so that it can ease some of the financial burden on the employees.

I’d like to make clear that the proceeds from this campaign will go directly to the staff, not toward management or the bar repairs.
