Our dear friend Alice Watts, is on her final life’s journey at home with her loving husband Bob, family and friends at her side. Hospice and nurses are there to aid her as well.
Alice has been a stalwart member of the San Francisco Bay Sailing Community contributing for decades, first as a volunteer and then as an employee of the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, aboard both the C.A. Thayer and Alma. About 10 years ago, Alice became an annual Instructor at the Northern California Women's Sailing Seminar (WSS). In 2023, she was awarded the first “WSS Woman of Valor” award for her contributions. She became an active member of Alameda’s Island Yacht Club, her last position as Secretary of the Board of Governors.
Her family members are experiencing substantial expenses related to her care as they gather at her bedside in these final weeks. We want to assist them at this very difficult time with financial aid to help ease their burden.
If you're able to contribute to this GoFundMe account, in any small way, please do what you can to recognize Alice's contributions to generations of sailors in the San Francisco Bay Community. Alice always showed up with kindness, patience and an abundance of humor helping others embrace the world of sailing. Whatever she took on she gave it her all.
She is a forever friend that will be forever missed.
Fair winds, Alice!
